Self Ligating braces use a small gate to hold the archwire into the brace instead of an o-ring or ligature. They can be be a great option for people who live further away as they will hold the wires in place for longer and they can be slightly easier to clean than traditional braces. Although the coloured o-rings are not needed to hold the wire in place due to the presence of a small gate, our patients still love being able to choose different coloured o-rings to make their braces more colourful. They are also available as clear braces on the upper front eight teeth.
